I really wanted to get back up to date with everything I’d sampled over the last couple of weeks before the weekend came around again and I tried a load more beers. After work on Thursday, I set myself up with my laptop, all my notes and started typing away. About half way through, the thirst started to kick in, thinking about beer for 2 hours without having one was never going to work. I headed to the fridge to see what was on offer and found only one thing. It’s a pint I’ve been putting off for a while as I’ve not been sure it’s really up my street. Nevertheless, I cracked the bottle open to give it a go.
Pint No. 38
What? – Timmermans, Kriek Lambicus
Where? – Challenge HQ, Putney
When? – Thursday 8th February 2018
The first thing you notice about Timmermans Kriek Lambicus is just how much it smells like cherry. Both in smell and taste, the cherry comes through but it’s not what I expected. It’s like someone has made a shandy using wheat beer and Tango Cherry. On first taste, I thought it was very artificial and not that nice to be honest. It grew on me as I drank it and by the end I actually quite liked it. I’d be interested to try the rest of the range and see how well their other brews go down.
