Prague – Second Full Day

Continuing the theme from the day before, we ventured out to another drinking spot with great views of the city. This one was on top of a department store. We were skeptical at first but when we got up there we thought we’d made the right choice. The sun was shining, the beers were plentiful, the chat, as always, was shit.

Pint No. 137

What? – Permon, Mango Berliner Weisse

Where? – T-Anker Bar, Prague

When? – Saturday 5th May 2018

Aside from a Branik I had for the road, my first beer of the day was a Mango Berliner Weisse by Permon. A couple of the other lads ordered this too and it didn’t go down too well with them. I think the sourness of it was a surprise and not a pleasant one for those who didn’t know to expect it. I thought it was a nice variant on the Weisse though, with the mango coming through quite nicely. It was light and fragrant and juicy and at 3.6%  you could have quite a few and not really notice.

Overall Score: 3/5.

Pint No. 137

What? – Kamenice, Kamenicka Desitka

Where? – T-Anker Bar, Prague

When? – Saturday 5th May 2018

I’m not going to lie, at this point I’m struggling to differentiate between this and several others I’ve had. It wasn’t the most interesting beer in the world and it didn’t even come with the customary Prague head. By the end of the pint it had turned a bit and was quite difficult to drink.

Overall Score: 1.5/5

Pint No. 138

What? – T-Anker

Where? – T-Anker Bar, Prague

When? – Saturday 5th May 2018

3rd of the day and I went for a pint of the house beer T-Anker. Perfect for the weather, the bar’s signature bev was super easy to drink. It has a good old head and went down an absolute treat. We treated ourselves to several rounds of this.

Overall Score: 3.5/5.

We were absolutely cunted when we decided to make a move. We headed into the city for a walk, and ended up supping some more Pilsner Urquell whilst chilling in the sun. Once we’d had enough, we booked an Uber to take us to a restaurant over by our flat. The restaurant had good reviews and importantly had a great selection of beers.

Pint No. 139

What? – Mordyr, Smoked Amber Ale

Where? – Hostinec U Vodoucha, Prague

When? – Saturday 5th May 2018

This caused a bit of consternation with the lads. I ordered the Smoked Amber ale as I was intrigued by it. Unfortunately, other people also ordered it meaning I was responsible for the beer being on the table. It did not go down well. We played a game of 5s which I lost meaning I had to neck the pint. It was quite a lot to get down fast. Heavy and full of smokey, hoppy flavour. In different circumstances, I think this would be a qual bev.

Overall Score: 3/5.

Pint No. 140

What? – Majak, Psenicni Special

Where? – Hostinec U Vodoucha, Prague

When? – Saturday 5th May 2018

My last beer of the day before moving on to heavier sauces was also probably my favourite. Big, bold flavour, fruity and hoppy with a great amount of carbonation and a head that would not quit. Great pint, would definitely have this again if I had any idea where I could source it.

Overall score: 4.5/5.
