I had a couple of cricket games this weekend, one in Wallington nearby Croydon on Saturday and a friendly at home on Putney Heath on Sunday. The weather on Saturday was absolutely atrocious meaning that our match was eventually abandoned. Sunday however, was glorious and top it off, we ran out easy winners of the game.

Sunday also happened to be the last game of The Premier League season, meaning that it was also the end of the Fantasy League season. Our league was incredibly close this year with 3 players having a shot at the title and 4 others battling it out to avoid bottom spot. I’d started the week top of the league but by the skin of my teeth. As the day went on I thought all was lost until Andrew Robertson snagged a goal for Liverpool and Motherwelse bagging me the title by just 1 point. After cricket, we went to the pub and I was in the mood to celebrate.

Pint No. 145

What? – Youngs, Special

Where? – The Green Man, Putney

When? – Sunday 13th May 2018

We went to The Green Man as we knew they had a pub quiz on and we fancied having a crack at it. The downside to the pub is they have a very limited selection of beers. For my celebratory pint, I went with Youngs Special. It’s a classic, nutty ale without a huge amount going for it. I downed it.

Overall Score: 2/5.

During the pub quiz, thirst set in so I ventured back to the bar. As I’d exhausted pump, cask and keg I looked to the refrigerators for inspiration. Looking back at me was a pint I’d seen many a time, but had ignored until now.

Pint No. 146

What? – Wells, Banana Bread Beer

Where? – The Green man, Putney

When? – Sunday 13th May 2018

Banana Bread Beer from Wells hadn’t really been on my agenda before. I’d imagined a faux-banana taste akin to a shitty milkshake and it did have a bit of that about it, though it was pretty nice. The banana was clearly there, but not to the extent that you felt you were having a soft drink.

Overall Score: 3/5.
